North Island wasn't so much created as nurtured – gently coaxed to maturity with an inordinate amount of attention. The eleven guest villas, each with a roof of traditional ylang ylang thatch, were built by a team of craftsmen from Africa, Zanzibar, Bali and the Seychelles. More thought went into the door handles here than most hotel projects get in total.
The whole North Island experience was designed to be exactly that – an experience, its purpose is to reconnect us with the tides, the elements, the sun, the moon, the joy of eating on a beach under the stars or swimming by moonlight as white-tipped sharks circle about, It's an experience designed to strike a primal chord.
These are the Seychelles, tiny tropical packages of green water, blue sky, white sand, verdant jungle and they made North Island authentic with a capital A.
