You absolutely must…
Must see:
Grand Place at Christmas (end Nov through the festive period) is spectacularly lit and plays host to an ever popular market for local delicacies and all manner of gifts plus of course, a skating rink.
Must eat:
Just off the Grand Place is the Galerie de la Reine, one of the worlds first shopping malls (and decidedly more chic than today’s). Karl Marx frequented its Café du Vaudeville when it opened in 1947 and it has recently re-invented itself as a restaurant and general hotspot not to be missed.
• Just one block from The Grand Place, one of Europe’s most beautiful squares
• Spacious and newly renovated rooms and bathrooms
• One of city great restaurants in-house and a wealth of dining choice, bars and bistros on your doorstep
The Whole Story
The hotel is in the midst of the city’s most important landmarks. The building sits just beneath towering spires of the famous Cathedral and Town Hall.
Guest rooms vary in shape and size, with a variety of finishes to their styling, but they all share a common and cosy version of minimalism with bathrooms that are no longer the size of closets.
Bocconi is rated as one of the city’s best Italian restaurants. Not just the chef, but also most of the waiters are Italian, and the particularly Belgian theme of surrealism which is subtly prevalent throughout the hotel is given an appropriately Italian twist with a significant collection of Fornasetti plates. (Piero Fornasetti was a legend in post-war Italy for his signature interpretation of typically Italian motifs executed on everything from furniture to plates!)
Because of its location in the historic heart of Brussels, the Amigo bar is a popular hangout for locals at lunch and after work, which adds significantly to the hotel’s ambience. The specialism is Martinis with no fewer than fourteen to try, an Apple-Tini is just the beginning...
The Rooms
All rooms are installed with the latest technology with a variety of styling. The bathrooms are a great size with top amenities, colourful mosaic, marble and the hotel’s own homage to Herge’s Tintin and Snowy the Dog.
Classic Rooms – available in Twin or King Beds at around 300 sq ft. Some rooms have town hall views.
Deluxe Rooms – also available as King or Twin bedded with approximately 50sq ft of additional space. View can be down through to the Grand Place or of the Spires of the town hall and the city skyline.
