The Whole Story

Designed by Barbara Hulanicki, who became a legend in the Swinging Sixties in London with her Biba store, a favourite with glam-rock stars like David Bowie, this twenty acre retreat comprises twenty five pastel-coloured cottages scattered throughout its lush tropical grounds that border the famous Pink Sands beach.

Some cottages lead directly to the beach, others are camouflaged by the verdant, jungle-like gardens. Privacy is assured, and everything is designed for relaxed, easy enjoyment of what must be one of the prettiest places in the Caribbean.


Harbour Island is how you imagine the Bahamas should be. It is a tiny, picture-postcard island with immaculately kept clapboard timber houses painted vivid shades of red, yellow and baby blue, complete with the ubiquitous white picket fence. There are no cars – people get around on electric buggies – and everyone you meet is smiling and relaxed, which is understandable considering they live in paradise.

Pink Sands Resort is in complete harmony with the unspoiled, charming beauty of Harbour Island. Neither the island nor the resort bombard you with choices. You are free to enjoy one of the most bewitching places in the Bahamas your way.

The Rooms

Guest accommodation is in twenty five pastel-coloured cottages scattered throughout the twenty acre estate. Ocean View cottages have their own pathway to the beach, and there is a one-bedroom design or a two-bedroom configuration with a sitting room/lounge between the two bedrooms. Garden View cottages are nestled in the lush tropical foliage with similar configuration options to the Ocean View cottages.

Fly into Miami with Virgin Atlantic (approx 8 hrs) and then onwards to the Bahamas. Flying into Nassau on the mainland, you can take a ferry across to Harbour Island (2.5 hrs) or a Bahamas Air 20 minute flight. Alternatively fly into North Eleuthera and take a 15 minute taxi ride to the dock, a 5 minute water taxi across to Harbour Island and then another 15 minute taxi ride to Pink Sands.
