You absolutely must…
Must Eat:
The Sandpiper’s own restaurant is a must. There is also Daphne’s, the sister restaurant to London’s institution just down the road and neighbouring Lone Star for a hipper, slightly more upbeat option.
Must Shop:
Most of the best shops are on the same stretch of coast, within a short drive-beautiful batiks and quirky local pottery as well as chic beach wear and Duty Free items.
Must Visit:
Nearby Sandy Lane has two of the best golf courses in the Caribbean - definitely worth a visit.
1. The reassuring timelessness of a classic
2. Absolute beach front location
3. “Tree Top” suites for secluded elegance with a twist.
The Whole Story
Elegant and discreet are the words that best sum up The Sandpiper. It is not a hotel that wants to impress with its cutting edge newness or with its size. It is a timeless property that has the same patrician feel you come across in a Ralph Lauren ad. It is stylish in a seemingly effortless fashion that belies the work and quality that goes into creating a place like this.
Situated on the quieter West side of Barbados, The Sandpiper is in the ideal location for water sports (sailing, water skiing, diving, swimming) and it is also within easy access of all the islands’ best bars, restaurants and nightlife.
Surrounded by tropical gardens and tranquil koi ponds, the Sandpiper’s restaurant is regarded by many as the best in Barbados. The menu from Chef Christophe Poupardin changes five times a week, but the style remains reassuringly timeless
The Sandpiper’s forty-seven rooms, suites and Tree Top suites are set in seven acres of landscaped gardens and the interiors are distinguished by a distinctly colonial feel that includes pickled pine ceilings and plantation-style detailing for the doors and windows.
