The Whole Story
Named after a World War II covert operation, this is the place in Jamaica that Ian Fleming chose to live and where he created James Bond 007. It is a spectacular and priceless piece of real estate that just happens to be a hotel, without being or looking like one. Goldeneye is a compound of luxurious private villas and each villa is its own private world. The list of glitterati that have stayed and partied here could fill a book, but you don’t need to be famous to book a villa, you just need an eye for beauty, a sense of fun and a reasonably healthy credit card.
Goldeneye is a property on the sea in the little village of Oracabessa Bay on Jamaica’s North Coast. When the Jamaican government decided a decade or so ago to build an inland marina, the property, by default, also acquired a newly formed spectacular lagoon at the back.
Private beaches and secluded coves separate the guest villas from each other. There is the original Fleming Villa with three bedrooms, the Royal Palm Villa situated on the lagoon, plus a collection of beach cottages featuring one or two bedrooms, as well as garden villas. Discrete, casual and relaxed, the atmosphere is much more personal retreat rather than holiday resort.
