The Whole Story
Luxury disguised by charming Mexican inspired beauty, on the perfect pacific beach.
Infused with the charm of Mexico, but without the over kill of clichés, the One&Only Palmilla is how Mexico should be.
Perched on the tip of the Baja Peninsula, framed by mountainous desert, Palmilla is where the Pacific meets the Sea of Cortez – a part of Mexico’s coast, where grey whales still breach water.
Not so long ago, Baja was the domain of adventurous surfers from California. There was nothing here except what they came for: beautiful ocean with superb waves. Baja was rugged and beautiful, and remote – all the qualities we all look for when we really want to escape.
There are twelve different categories of accommodation at One&Only Palmilla, available as either ocean-front or beach-front, including a self standing villa for ten. There are 172 rooms in total, and they all share, regardless of configuration, a refined Mexican approach.
The distinct red roof tiles and white washed walls of the Mexican vernacular are blended with just the right amount of hand craft.
Agua is how you would expect a bar in Baja to be: a casual Palapa (thatched pavilion) overlooking the beach.
There are four Restaurant options:
Agua is the indoor/outdoor Mexican restaurant, with thatched roof, fountains, fireplaces, terracotta and azulejos (traditional tiles) to create the ambience.
Breeze, an al fresco café created by Jean-George Vongerichten is on another terrace by the sea.
Market is a more intimate affair that serves Euro-Asian cuisine with Mexican inspiration.
And finally Suviche is Jean-George's sushi bar with a view of swaying palms and the Pacific Ocean.
The Pacific is seen from every direction with the added bonus that the resort's beach is one of the few beaches from which you can swim in the area.
