You absolutely must…
Must explore:
Ok, it would be easy to stay at Linthwaite House all day, but you are in the Lakes and getting out and about enjoying country pursuits couldn’t be easier. This is country for serious fishing, walking, horsemanship and off road biking. But the hotel helps out beginners and city folk too with gentler ways to try all the above. A horse riding lesson and a ferry ride over the lake for some flatter cycling is a good way to start.
Must splurge:
Fantastic value for a top category suite, take the Loft Suite for special occasions or time out with your loved one. The 56m2 open planned loft has retractable glass roof panels and skylights to bring the clear, unadulterated starry sky to you (telescope provided).
• Stunning setting over Lake Windermere enjoying complete tranquillity
• Lake country hospitality with the addition of fine dining and contemporary styling
• Fishing, croquet, golf, rambling and horse-riding among other gentleperson’s pursuits
The Whole Story
From the terrace you have one of the best views of Lake Windermere - the largest lake in England. Linthwaite House is successfully hidden in the landscape, here there is no trace of the tourists that often crowd the Lake District.
The setting of the house is like something from a fairytale, and as a hotel Linthwaite does its level best to make sure the magic spell is never broken. There is fly fishing in their own tarn, croquet on the lawn and there are putting greens to help hone your short game skills. Add to this everyone's favourite activity of sitting on the terrace and gazing out at the view, and there really is not a good enough reason to ever leave the premises. The dining room is cosy and eclectic, bringing a different ambience to the hotel at night, instead of the compelling nature it is all about conversation and atmosphere.
Linthwaite House is cosy without being stuffy, luxurious but not pretentious, the hotel is unexpectedly casual and remarkably comfortable. As a guest, the impression is that you are staying in someone's house and that the host is genuinely happy to have you.
