The Whole Story
Although this area has long been evolving into a mecca for fashion, design, boutiques and great food, this represents the first boutique hotel in Bermondsey. With an already acclaimed restaurant, a large bar terrace, a funky 60s inspired interior and room facilities that work hard to get you to try this neighbourhood – the Bermondsey Square Hotel has been very well received.
Set within a square at the heart of Bermondsey, surrounded by design houses, new offices, local architecture, cobbled streets and boutiques specialising in fashion and local produce. On foot from the hotel you can visit Zhandra Rhodes fashion textile museum, the design museum, Borough market, Tower Bridge and HMS Belfast.
Guest rooms have facilities that show an innovative attention to detail. The TV is an apple imac that can integrated with your laptop or i-pod and the mini-bar has been replaced with a much more guest friendly fridge.
Alfie’s restaurant and bar has thankfully made the most of its proximity to Borough Market using the fresh produce in its exciting European dishes. Yet, remembering its locale, the hotel also serves up a ‘chippy’ style takeaway – pickled eggs are still available just with hand cut chips and sustainably sourced fish. The 120 cover bar terrace allows the vibe to move outside in season. Every single day, including Saturday has a happy hour that’s actually 4 hours long!
The Rooms
60 Deluxe rooms all have Mattison beds, Apple iMac TV (that integrate with your laptop or iPod), fridges, wet rooms with Grohe drench showers.
15 Club rooms have more space including large spa showers.
5 Loft Suites have a separate lounge area and girls names! (after iconic 60s songs) – Lily, Lucy, Ruby, Eleanor and Jude. Most have a private terrace with city views and the very special Lucy has an outdoor hot tub.
