The Whole Story
Located in the heart of Kenya’s world famous Masai Mara Game Reserve, Naibor camp consists of a small group of tents hidden by a grove of trees on the banks of the Talek River.
Just two kilometres further down stream, the Talek flows into the river Mara that gives the area half its name (the other half is the name of the indigenous tribe the Masai). As such, Naibor is perfectly positioned to witness the spectacle of wildebeest crossing the Mara during the annual migration from July to November. Quite aside from this however, Naibor’s location in the very heart of the Maasai Mara means fabulous wildlife viewing year round.
The Mara landscape is predominantly one of rolling open grassland divided by the occasional riverina woodland. Naibor is very well tucked away in a woodland, and as such it provides intimacy and privacy as well as protection. At Naibor, day-to-day life is very much according to the rhythm of a genuine camp, with sundown drinks at the evening camp fire as the focal point. The tents are large and luxurious, with shaded verandas, ensuite bathrooms and safari showers. The tent interiors are contemporary as opposed to nostalgic.
There is a bar in the Hemingway safari tradition where guests can have a gin & tonic by the evening campfire looking out on the pod of resident hippos.
Meals are created by experienced chefs working with local fresh ingredients and served in the mess tent under the shade of the trees on a long banquet table with benches, surrounded by comfortable floor cushions, rugs and sofas.
The Rooms
Main Naibor has seven contemporary tents, carefully positioned amongst the trees to enjoy the surrounding woodland in complete privacy. Each tent has a shady veranda, his & hers wash basins and an en-suite bathroom with flush toilet and safari shower.
Little Naibor is close-by and is made up of 2 two bedroom suites. Each suite has two ensuite bedrooms (one double and one twin) with lounge, veranda, fireplace and dining area, all overlooking the river in complete privacy. Little Naibor can be booked exclusively or in conjunction with Main Naibor.
