The Whole Story
Two hundred years ago this was a farmhouse, and in 1912 it was Victorianised, obviously in such a successful fashion that it was declared a national monument in 1984. With twelve rooms, it is not a large hotel by any means, and that is how it is supposed to be. The Cape Cadogan is for people who prefer a certain level of style, sophistication and comfort with magnificent personal service. This is a chic, bohemian bolthole that feels like an elegant home from home.
There is a lounge room where you’ll find port and snacks pre-dinner, a library, a garden with small pool for hot days and an indoor outdoor breakfast room. The location two minutes from trendy Kloof Street, within the Cape Town city bowl affords guests the ability to walk to both restaurants and boutiques which are frequented by the locals, ensuring an experience where one becomes part of the city cosmopolitan way of life.
A great option for families is the classic contemporary apartments at More Quarters just down the road from the hotel. With self catering facilities, but breakfast is also served in the morning and a very experienced concierge is at hand so it’s the best of both worlds – independence and hotel service!
The Rooms
The hotel has twelve rooms, 8 Standard and 4 Luxury rooms – all are slightly different, and then there is the uber luxury of the owner’s villa. More Quarters has 9 one-bedroom apartments, 2 two-bedroom apartments and one house with three bedrooms and a private plunge pool.
