The sacred kingdom of Kandy is Sri Lanka’s Hill capital. Founded in the 14th century, Kandy is enriched in culture and is most famous for being the home of “The temple of the tooth” (the sacred tooth of Buddha). Located at the southern tip of Sri Lanka’s cultural triangle, it is the ideal location for visiting Sigiriya rock fortress and Pinawella elephant orphanage. This scenic city was declared a world heritage site in 1988 and is a must when visiting Sri Lanka.
Hiring a private car and driver will ensure you experience all Kandy has to offer and is the ideal way to visit all points of the cultural triangle.
