• Vil Uyana sits within Sri Lanka’s venerated cultural triangle.
• A perfect base for Sigirya Rock Fortress, Dambulla’s Bhuddist cave temples and the reclining Budddha of Polonawaura.
• Exotic, spacious bungalows built for design-conscious nature lovers in a unique setting.
The Whole Story
Elephant jeep safaris, the Buddhist caves of Dambulla, Iron Wood Forest, Rose Quartz Mountain, Sigiriya Lion Rock and its fresco paintings; the exotically titled Vil Uyana must be one of the most geographically and culturally exciting properties in Asia. Sigiriya, the remains of an extraordinary palace once built for King Kasyapa, on the other hand is still a bit of a secret treasure. During its heyday the entrance of this palace was through the head of a stone lion. Today only the paw remains, but the sheer size of it is an indication of how monumental the lion’s head would have been. Ideally situated not only for the Lion Fortress, this is the spot for the Buddhist Caves of Dambulla as well as being the location for an annual elephant migration. Vil Uyana was developed to allow the visitor to Sri Lanka the opportunity to live in and be surrounded by its impressive history. The lakes created were inspired by those built in the 11th century by King Parakramabahu, and the guest bungalows are the first guest dwellings in Sri Lanka to be built over water. This hotel is for nature lovers who wish to go on an unforgettable adventure of cultural discovery while being pampered in contemporary luxury.
